Community Centre and Other Facilities

Staff that provide community services, whether funded by a Trust, NGO, Charity, Independently Funded, part of a Church or other Organisation, Resident Associations, or National or Local Government, all face risks working in the facility. Many amenities have communal areas, rooms for hire, meeting and conference opportunities, sport and recreational areas and bar and snack provision.

  • Tactics for Dealing with Aggressive Behaviour
  • Diversion and Deflection of Aggressive Focus
  • Gaining and Maintaining Respect
  • The Law
  • Drugs & Alcohol - Effects on Conduct
  • Breakaway & Restraint Training

It is a fact that incidents of violent and challenging behaviour have been prevalent at Community Centres around the UK. Many situations where violence occurs can be avoided with the correct training, and further this reduces the prevalence of aggressive and violent behaviour.

Strategies for dealing with the difficult client can be learned, confrontational conduct can be faced up to, and dealt with in a manner that allows resolution. Conflict Resolution is a skill that can be learned, and Body Language and verbal skills can turn a difficult and challenging situation around, leading to a mutually satisfactory conclusion. Given that alcohol may be a factor in the type of behaviour, much emphasis is placed on dealing with he client without resort to physical intervention.

The Breakaway and Physical Intervention portion of the seminar is designed to allow a swift response to another person grabbing or trying to hold. In addition there is a restraint module which is designed to allow the restraint of those that have lost control and have become physically violent toward staff, and their removal, or indeed, detention until the Police arrive.

The one day seminar is designed to get workers to consider their own Personal Safety, the Safety of others in the facility, and the Duty of Care owed to even the most difficult customer.

A Certificate of Attendance is presented to all participants, and attendees are requested to complete a feedback form on completion of the course, in order that we can continue to improve our workshops and courses.
